Xiberoa Kantuz Loraturik

Co-produced with the Loraldia Festival (Bilbao) and directed by Julen and Beñat Achiary, this show was Ezkandrai’s 2024 creation, premiering at the Gayarre Theater in Pamplona (Navarre) on February 22, 2024.

An ode to the timeless depth of Basque popular songs — from Souletin laments to dance chants and "basa ahaide" — Xiberoa Kantuz Loraturik opens a fertile dialogue between vocal beauty and instrumental song, which in turn converse with photography, ambient recordings from Soule, images, and light.

A polyphony of voices — and also of arts — the XKL adventure offers a renewed, resolutely contemporary but deeply rooted vision of a sung heritage that keeps evolving.
