Folk songs, improvisation, variations on randomness, memory, and its decay. Lyrics that explore childhood’s gaze.
This is the meeting of two avant-garde Norwegian musicians for whom Sébastien Palis composed the music. A journey between shadow and light, acoustic and electronic.
The exploration of memory translates into sonic processing that produces an echo of the acoustic trio: the modular-treated piano generates a ghostly image of itself; lo-fi tape fragments give voice to a vanished time; filtered drum machines become spectral echoes. A lingering sensation of duplication — and doubt in the reliability of our perception.
There’s something of Bristol’s trip hop in this strange form of chamber music.
