Description

Fawzi Berger offers a unique immersion into trans-drum traditions, at the crossroads of rhythms, songs, and popular cultures from Northeastern Brazil. Through ciranda, maracatu, coco, and collective improvisation, participants are invited to explore a living, sensitive, and shared practice. Rhythm is discovered through the body, the voice, movement, drums, listening, and the energy of improvisation.

Program

Each participant progresses at their own pace through four half-days of practice, in an accessible and welcoming environment.
Everyone is capable, everyone is welcome: from beginners to advanced participants, the pedagogical programme adapts to each person’s background, experience, and desires.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be invited to join the great festive parade celebrating the 30th anniversary of Errobiko Festibala on Saturday evening.

Fawzi Berger

Fawzi Berger is an explorer of living, traditional, and improvised music. For the past 25 years, he has developed his artistic path between Brazil and France, in close connection with popular cultures, festive rhythms, collective singing, and body-rooted musical practices.
Drummer, percussionist, singer, and composer, he has developed a sensitive and generous approach to transmission, where listening, movement, voice, and improvisation play a central role. His work is part of an ongoing exploration of rhythm, collective creation, and the encounter between traditions and contemporary forms.
He has collaborated with Cie Lubat, Forró da Lua, Cie L’Établi, Forró Banzaï, the Recife Carnival, Naná Vasconcelos, Les Tambours de Vaour, and Quarteto Olinda.
