Formed in 2018 during the recording of a piece from Wassim Halal’s "Le Cri du Cyclope", Polyphème brings together eight musicians from Gamelan Puspawarna and percussionist Wassim Halal. From this fruitful collaboration emerged a body of original compositions, situated at the intersection of rhythm and time, where the darbuka engages in a dialogue with the resonant tones of the Balinese gamelan.
Blending composition and improvisation, Polyphème weaves a magnetic soundscape, interwoven with subtle polyrhythms, hypnotic leitmotifs, and unpredictable bursts of energy.
It is organic and spellbinding music, where precision blends with freedom.
